Denpasar, Bali 25 June 2020 – The official website for the Arafura and Timor Seas Ecosystem Action (ATSEA) Programme featuring vital information about its governance and activities was launched in June 2020.
A collaborative effort of all ATSEA-2 team members and representatives, at both regional and national levels, the website is targeting government bodies, NGOs, companies and individuals, especially those in nations sharing the semi-enclosed body of water; Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste.
Available in English, the website details information about the programme’s background, goals, objectives, partners, and people involved in ensuring project success. It also features information on the three main components of the ATSEA-2 programme, including governance mechanism, environmental, and knowledge management. The latest updates about ATSEA-2 is also provided in the “Newsroom” “Resources” sections.
“This website is a testament to our commitment to the public in providing transparency of information regarding our key activities to preserve and protect ecosystem in Arafura and Timor seas. We encourage the public to access the website to gain vital information concerning oceanic protection in the areas”, said Dr. Handoko Adi Susanto, Regional Project Manager of the ATSEA-2 at the launch of the website.
Mr. Iwan Kurniawan, Technical Officer at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia hoped the ATSEA-2 website will provide solutions-based, actionable information to inform decision-making. This website will be the main platform to disseminate information and best practices from the project activities, including implementing partners.
