The GEF/UNDP/PEMSEA ATSEA-2 Programme calls people from anywhere in the world to submit animated videos sharing the urgency to protect the ocean. Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to submit an animated video on this #ATSEAchallenge themed “Uniting the Arafura and Timor Seas”.

The Arafura and Timor Seas (ATS) region is unique in its ecology, geography and socio-political structure. It is home to a vast array of natural wonders. This fertile corridor of tropical water connects the Pacific and Indian Oceans with the Coral Triangle. This area provides the peoples of many nations with essential resources while also stocking the world’s oceans with biodiversity.

However, much of the marine life in the ATS region is under threat from a combination of overfishing, pollution, loss of habitat and the impacts of climate change. To encourage the public to make a difference in their life and highlight the creativity in showcasing the intrinsic links between the ocean and human lives, ATSEA calls animation video creators to participate in the #atsea animated video contest with a total prize of USD 1,750.
